Our developments touch the lives of 1.5 million people who live, work and, socialise in Dublin. Our approach to social sustainability puts the needs of these people first as we believe people make places.
Deckchairs and coffee
One of the social initiatives that proved very successful was the provision of movable deckchairs and a coffee offering into our scheme at Wilton Park. Investing in small, thoughtful touches such as this improve people’s everyday quality of life and can have a very big impact. Sometimes, all it takes to make a place more attractive is comfortable, movable seating and a coffee kiosk nearby.
Community events
We have successfully hosted Bark in the Park in partnership with the DSPCA for our four-legged friends and their owners and we also teamed up with local yoga studio, Reformation for some outdoor Saturday morning stretching.
Shaping our city through education and work experience
We are proud to announce a three-year partnership with basis.point and Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) to support BITCI’s ‘Time to Grow’ programme. This is an education and workplace initiative for young people that will provide valuable work experience and work placements for Leaving Cert students in Dublin.
Supporting the Simon Community
The Dublin Simon Community has been helping to care for some of the city’s most vulnerable citizens for more than half a century. The largest and most significant project being undertaken by the Dublin Simon Community is currently the Medical Treatment facility at Ushers Island. This €30 million project, due to be completed in 2024, will provide 100 beds for homeless people requiring addiction support. The IPUT Development team is providing on-going project management advice for this project.
Our most recent annual fundraising campaign for the Dublin Simon Community was once again generously supported by consultants, contractors, and partners alike, with more than €930,000 raised since we first started supporting the charity in 2020. In addition to the Simon Community, this year’s campaign also raised funds for The Oasis Centre - an organisation that provides vital counselling services.
